Course overview

This course builds upon the introductory learning of Graphic Communication Design Studios 1 & 2 and aims to reinforce students’ understanding of the design studio as a key environment in which creative and critical thinking and making is developed, shared and progressed as part of building effective design practice. This stage of the program focusses on design process as the fundamental method by which designers systematically investigate, analyse, iterate, evaluate, translate and develop, conceptual, visual and typographic responses to communication problems and scenarios. It includes investigation and application of the core principles of design and visual language, and with reference to specific functions and contexts of design (for example identity, branding or information design).
