Course overview
This course aims to develop students’ knowledge and practical skills in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) by introducing core spatial concepts and analytical techniques and demonstrating their application across key professional fields.
Through three integrated modules, students will:
· gain a solid foundation in GIS data models, file types, coordinate systems and spatial analysis tools;
· build advanced capabilities in raster and network data analysis and apply spatial statistical methods, including regression analysis; and
· apply these techniques to real-world transport, geotechnical, hydrological and environmental fields.
By completing the course, students will be able to use industry-standard GIS software to manage, analyse and present spatial data to support evidence-based decision-making in Civil engineering and environmental contexts.
- GIS Basics
- GIS Data Analysis
- GIS Applications
