Course overview
The course provides students with an introduction to wildlife management at the state, national and international level and some of the tools used by wildlife managers.
Course learning outcomes
- Demonstrate knowledge of the main components of wildlife management and be able to give examples
- Describe the main management tools and techniques used by wildlife managers to assist in their work
- Capture, handle and identify small mammals and non-venomous reptiles and understand the planning, preparation, techniques, and teamwork involved in wildlife surveys
- Explain the principle of wildlife health investigation and be competent in collecting biological samples
- Demonstrate appropriate written and oral communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
