Course overview
This course introduces the principles of bioprocess engineering focusing on downstream bioprocessing. It aims to provide the latest bioprocess technology from an engineering point of view, using worked examples related to biological systems. This course introduces the commonly used technologies for biological products. The covered topics include centrifugation, filtration, precipitation, membrane separation, adsorption chromatography, size exclusion chromatography, liquid-liquid separation. This course aligns with the program’s intent to demonstrate a chemical engineering body of knowledge and apply this knowledge along with critical thinking, creativity, and innovation for industrial and real-life complex problems.
