Course overview
This course aims to provide the theory and principles of mine safety management system, mine ventilation and geotechnical aspects involving the subsurface environment in underground mining operations. Topics covered include: mine safety management systems, risk assessment, mine dust and gases; hazards and risks; mine fires; radiation; ventilation circuit design and analysis; ventilation surveys and monitoring; heat stress and other health and safety issues; operational standards; and management of mine ventilation systems; mine seismicity; core geotechnical risks; ground control principals; mining method selection; mine subsidence; NorthPark's case study.
