Course overview
This course will provide students with an innovative and in situ "real world" work integrated learning experience to develop their professional competencies. This course will be conducted as a 15-day field-based experience and will include academic, ready-to-work, and professional requirements. Students are required to source their own work integrated learning placement or internship with a host organisation relevant to their discipline. Once the opportunity has been approved by the Course Coordinator the student can enrol into the course. Key areas of coverage include planning, executing, evaluating, and reflecting on the professional placement.
Course learning outcomes
- Apply basic principles, techniques, and professional practice skills relevant to the Work Integrated Learning experience.
- Demonstrate understanding of and skills for non-technical aspects of professional behaviour including human, social, ethical, environmental, legal, economic, and cultural factors.
- Develop and demonstrate professional competencies relevant to a particular disciplinary area of industry practice.
- Critically reflect on tasks undertaken throughout the Work Integrated Learning experience.
