Course overview
The aim of this course is to further develop theoretical and practical skills in Geospatial Science while focusing on processing and analysing freely available optical satellite imagery and presenting derived products. This course is designed for learners to enhance their acquired knowledge to analyse and communicate Remotely Sensed imagery data effectively and efficiently. Learners will gain skills in Multispectral imagery display, processing and analysis. Ultimately, this course aims to develop in learners the ability to apply theoretical knowledge to practical problems and to create and communicate insight into complex satellite imagery data which aligns with key demands in scientific careers, equipping graduates to address real-world challenges effectively and to excel in various scientific sectors.

Course learning outcomes
- Evaluate the principles of Electromagnetic Spectrum and Radiation in the context of Passive Satellite Remote Sensing
- Recommend appropriate remote sensing sensors and data for various earth observation scenarios considering project specific requirements
- Construct analysis ready satellite imagery sourced from open data portals
- Apply relevant spectral index and evaluation methodologies to produce continuous mapping products
- Apply image classification and evaluation methodologies to produce accurate categorical mapping products
