Course overview
To present the fundamental principles of mobile communications and their underpinning technologies. Content includes: Fundamentals of mobile cellular networks; Propagation and channel models in wireless transmission; Diversity techniques in wireless transmission; Principles and performance of advanced transmission schemes (spread spectrum, OFDM) and wireless access (CDMA, OFDMA,SC-FDMA); Principles of multiple antenna technologies.
Course learning outcomes
- Design and analyse wireless communication systems.
- Evaluate the varying nature of wireless channels and its impact on mobile communications.
- Evaluate and analyse modern transmission and wireless access technologies.
- Appraise the role of modern transmission technologies in wireless communication systems.
