Course overview
This course aims to equip students with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in water treatment technologies, reuse practices, regulatory frameworks and water reuse planning and management. This will enable students to contribute effectively to sustainable water management solutions.
Course learning outcomes
- Explain the fundamental principles of water treatment and the importance of water reuse in addressing global water scarcity
- Compare advanced water treatment processes, including membrane filtration, chemical oxidation, and disinfection techniques
- Analyse the factors influencing water quality and apply appropriate treatment methods to achieve desired water standards
- Evaluate the environmental, economic, and social implications of water reuse in various sectors, such as agriculture, industry, and urban settings
- Develop proficiency in designing, implementing, and managing water reuse systems, considering regulatory requirements and stakeholder perspectives
- Engage in critical thinking and problem-solving exercises to address challenges and opportunities in sustainable water management practices
