Course learning outcomes

  • Consolidate and extend their knowledge of limit states design incorporating sustainability issues using concrete materials (PO 1,3, 4, 5, 6), (EA 1.1, 1.2, 2.1, 2.2, 3.1).
  • Design simple and intermediate structures using reinforced concrete to comply with Australian Standards (PO 1,4,5,6), (EA 1.1, 1.2, 1.6, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3).
  • Integrate first principles theoretical knowledge with practical design and analysis techniques, including the use of computer analysis programs (PO 1,4,5), (EA 1.1, 1.2, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3).
  • Communicate design processes and outcomes in a manner acceptable to the engineering profession, through design reports, calculations and drawings (PO 7), (EA 3.2, 3.5).
  • Demonstrate the ability to work ethically as a member of a professional team (PO 6,8), (EA 3.1, 3.5, 3.6).
