Course overview
Pre-service teachers will develop their understanding of Digital Technologies at the secondary level in the Australian Curriculum, SACE and other relevant curriculum frameworks. They will develop knowledge and understanding of concepts and strategies associated with teaching Digital Technologies, including problem and project based learning, and creating and maintaining safe and supportive learning environments, focusing and reflecting on key aspects of their professional practice as secondary Digital Technologies teachers.
Course learning outcomes
- Identify and make connections between Digital Technologies learning content, achievement standards, and learning progressions across relevant middle and senior secondary curricula
- Investigate and use relational teaching and learning approaches suitable within Digital Technologies contexts for teaching and learning the concepts required to analyse problem situations and design, implement and/or evaluate digital-systems solutions
- Apply and reflect on systems thinking, and project- and problem-based learning designs when developing Digital Technologies units of work for middle-school students
- Design, apply, and appraise coherent and inclusive learning experiences that demonstrate planning, assessment and evaluation strategies
- Critically reflect on their personal potential, capabilities, and limitations, and appraise their emerging capabilities as beginning Digital Technologies secondary educators
