Course learning outcomes
- Explain the characteristics and principles of human growth, development and motor behaviour from birth to adolescence
- Understand and describe the complex process of change in human development and motor behaviour that emerges from the interaction of heredity, task requirements and the environment as it relates to teaching
- Use key terms associated with the study of human growth and development appropriately to contribute to small group discussion and learning activities
- Explain how the periods of life are inextricably linked with the phases of motor development through the Hourglass Model of motor development
- Apply knowledge and understanding of human growth and motor development from birth to adolescence to plan developmentally appropriate and engaging learning sequences for primary-aged students
- Demonstrate teaching skills in the developmentally appropriate activities for the early and primary years of schooling
