Course overview
The aim of this course is to critically analyse online learning communities in informal and formal digital environments, and to explore and evaluate the learning occurring in these settings, including the learning occurring in environments such as social media and MOOCs. The course will also explore some of the current theories underpinning these trends.
Course learning outcomes
- Analyse theories underpinning sound pedagogical practices in online/blended learning settings.
- Design learning experiences by applying pedagogical principles for ethical, social and cultural practice.
- Apply and analyse the use of reporting tools in LMS to assess student learning.
- Critically analyse the interactions occurring in formal and informal environments.
- Investigate and examine the opportunities and outcomes of informal learning.
- Investigate the potential of social media affordances to enhance student learning and engagement in formal settings.
