Course overview

In this course students will design curriculum and learning sequences in English Curriculum informed by theoretical and pedagogical knowledges and practices, and analyse and evaluate a range of pedagogies and classroom management strategies to inform planning a high quality and inclusive English program. Preservice teachers will apply English curriculum and pedagogical knowledge to designing classroom programs and planning to focus on text practices and conceptual development. Drawing on theoretical frameworks in language, literacy and literature preservice teachers will examine approaches to English curriculum design and planning including dialogic, affective and culturally responsive pedagogies. Through deepening their understanding of assessment and evaluation, preservice teachers will critique approaches to the analysis of assessment data and how this informs teaching and learning. Preservice teachers will explore and critique approaches to classroom management and consider the application to their curriculum design and planning.
