Course overview
This course will consolidate students' understanding and skills in developing design strategies employing digital design programs and producing prototypes and artefacts for production. To allow students to develop their expertise in operating state-of-the-art machinery and digital equipment. Additionally to introduce sustainability into the design and production process and to ensure all practices meet WHS legislative requirements. In this course students will consolidate their knowledge and skills in using a range of digital and traditional technologies, machinery, equipment and design techniques and processes to design and produce objects and artefacts. They will learn to maintain the equipment within a workshop, understanding the specific Safe Operating Procedures applicable to that equipment and the legislative framework surrounding its operation. Students will additionally be inducted into sustainable practices in the use of materials, processes, technologies and systems.
Course learning outcomes
- Generate innovative designs and design processes for workshop projects.
- Operate sophisticated tools, digital equipment and machinery to craft prototypes and artefacts for production.
- Apply sustainable practices in the use of materials, processes, technologies and systems.
- Apply critical thinking in evaluating artefacts in terms of design, materials and systems production.
