Course overview

The aim of this course is to further develop understandings of the theory and practice of teaching English at the secondary level, with a focus on the senior years. Pre-service teachers will explore professional practices in secondary English that are relevant, inclusive, and representative of contemporary contexts, recognising the diversity of learners and learning pathways. They will critique the role of literature and texts in the English classroom with a view to considering historical priorities and traditions in English teaching and engage in planning for learning and assessment in the senior years.
