This course aims to promote understanding, agency and advocacy for learner, teacher and school community wellbeing, safety and identity formation within the pre-service teacher’s educational philosophy and practice.

Course learning outcomes
- Critique the diverse definitions and representations of wellbeing and safety across educational policy and practice informing the development of their own philosophy of embedding learner, teacher and community wellbeing and safety as an early career teacher.
- Clearly demonstrate awareness and understanding of research informed evidence of the current wellbeing of learners and teachers and analyse how this is reported, measured and/or evaluated to inform teaching embedding wellbeing and safety into curriculum, pedagogy and assessment and own teacher wellbeing practices
- Critically analyse contemporary issues impacting on learner and teacher wellbeing and safety, the protective and risk factors across ecological systems and interconnectedness between learner and teacher wellbeing.
- Demonstrate understanding of diverse wellbeing and safety approaches including individual, holistic, whole school and community approaches that are culturally inclusive and contextual, including learning from First Nations approaches to wellbeing and safety.
- Reflect deeply on their own teacher wellbeing and identity and demonstrate agency and responsibility in developing a personalised plan to support their transition as an early career teacher for a sustained and teaching future.

If you are continuing in a program you commenced prior to 1 January 2021, or are commencing an Honours degree relating to an undergraduate degree you commenced prior to 1 January 2021, you may be charged a different Student Contribution amount from the amount displayed below. Please check the Student Contribution bands for continuing students here. If you are an international student, or a domestic student studying in a full fee paying place, and are continuing study that you commenced in 2025 or earlier, your fees will be available here before enrolments open for 2026.
