Course overview

Students will critically appraise contemporary developments in curriculum and pedagogy directed towards expanding the range of educational pathways available to young people in middle and senior secondary settings. The students will then apply this knowledge to creatively consider available secondary curriculum structures and plan and implement learning designs which facilitate authentic and agentic personalised learning opportunities for secondary students within school curricula and communities. 

Course learning outcomes

  • Critically analyse the construction of secondary school curricula in terms of the inclusion of personalised approaches to learning
  • Assess curriculum and teaching/facilitation practices applicable to implementing personalised approaches to learning across a range of subjects in the secondary curriculum
  • Develop and refine a range of resources and strategies to support personalised learning in secondary settings
  • Apply research principles and strategies relevant to personalised learning in secondary curricula contexts
