Course overview

This course aims to enhance and expand preservice teachers' existing textile technology skills, knowledge, and professional expertise associated with teaching and learning in textile technology. It specifically focuses on application in a senior school setting. There is a strong focus on integrating both the theoretical and practical aspects of textile technologies. 

Course learning outcomes

  • Demonstrate an understanding of design principles and thinking, and the connection to practical skills, appropriate to the senior school classroom
  • Identify and integrate topical and ethical aspects of the textile industry into the planning and production of solutions
  • Employ a high level of practical skill in the production of textile solutions suitable for the senior school classroom
  • Apply WHS knowledge in identifying, applying, using and justifying tools and equipment in the textile technology senior school classroom, with a focus on advanced technologies
