Course overview

This course introduces students to key constructs associated with how children learn science as the basis for planning and assessing disciplinary-based learning experiences across the primary years of schooling. Students will develop an understanding of inquiry-based and social constructivist perspectives of learning. Students will investigate current pedagogies, thinking and working scientifically and make links with other curriculum areas. Students will confidently and capably plan, implement and evaluate a unit of work in science that supports the building of inquiry skills, builds understanding of science concepts (embedded in biology, chemistry, earth and space and/or physical sciences) and makes connections to real-world context.
