Course overview

For preservice teachers to design and implement a collaborative arts project to demonstrate their arts content knowledge with a focus on production processes to draw arts domains together in a cohesive project. Preservice teachers will undertake practice-led arts workshops focusing on creative processes and pedagogical content leading to a presentation. Reflective documentation will include application to diverse learning contexts with connections to other key learning areas. Approaches to production include critical thinking with pedagogical strategies for inclusion and design thinking.

  • Critically reflect on the role and function of the arts as a means of communication for young people in diverse contemporary communities
  • Identify and research traditional and contemporary approaches to production, presentation and audiences within arts curricula
  • Research and develop arts creative processes and practices to produce and present performance, presentation or display for an audience
  • Critically describe current approaches to technologies for working in the arts in relation to production, presentation and audience
  • Identify cultural knowledge and influences intrinsic to the development and creation of art works
  • Critically reflect on practice as an active arts educator
