Course overview

In this course, students will study drama as a philosophy of self, of political change, within inclusive arts practice and as a catalyst for transformation in the adolescent. The theme of transformation and empowerment within drama will be explored as key practitioners and historical agitators of change are examined: drama as a philosophy of change. The methodologies of drama therapy, theatre in education, youth theatre, inclusive Arts practice and the adolescent identity will also be covered with students participating in a community/workplace fieldwork experience. Appropriate content, teaching strategies, materials, processes (design thinking and inquiry based learning) and curricula will be covered to enable implementation and understanding of the potential for transformation and the essential role of the creative arts in shaping and framing cultural identity within an educational environment.
