Course overview

This course will support students to understand play-based pedagogies and develop capacities to plan, implement and document children's learning through play. Students will investigate the place of play in education, including theoretical and practice perspectives. Students will reflect on play from a diversity of perspectives.

Course learning outcomes

  • Apply practical knowledge and theoretical understanding of play curricula in planning programs.
  • Explore multiple perspectives of play and its benefits in learning.
  • Consider the role of adults in children's play from a range of cultural perspectives.
  • Plan play curricula including acknowledgement of children's competence and voice that ensures equity of access and participation.
