Course overview
In this course, students will develop the mathematical skills and knowledge for teaching Mathematics in the primary years of schooling, with a focus on statistics and probability. Preservice teachers will engage with mathematical knowledge for teaching primary Mathematics, with a focus on statistics and probability.
Course learning outcomes
- Apply mathematical concepts in statistics and probability
- Select from and apply from a range of mathematical representations and strategies to solve problems, with a focus on statistics and probability
- Selectively use a range of tools, including digital technologies, to enable, enhance and extend mathematical understanding in statistics and probability
- Use sophisticated communication techniques to convey mathematical thinking and reasoning in spoken, written and visual modes
- Critically reflect on and enhance their own mathematical development
