This course will be structured around four main topic areas with an overview of financial markets and the behaviour of interest rates and exchange rates; an analysis of financial institutions, paying particular attention to regulation and financial crises; the mechanics of central banking and the conduct of monetary policy and exchange rate regimes; and an examination of monetary theory and open-economy macroeconomic policy.
