Course overview

This course deepens the critical thinking and economic reasoning applied to key topics in development economics. It explores topics such as economic development measurement, growth theories, inequality, poverty, the role of agriculture for development, rural financial markets, labour markets and foreign aid. Students will develop analytical skills to critically evaluate the factors influencing and limiting economic development. By exploring case studies and real-world scenarios, students will gain nuanced understandings of the intricacies involved in development processes. This will empower them to assess policy implications effectively and actively engage in informed discussions concerning global development challenges.
