Course overview
In this course, students will study application of advanced prototyping concepts for engineering disciplines. Content includes: Introduction to basic electronics; Architecture and programming concepts for micro controllers; Schematic design; Advanced production of PCBs; Application of 3D modelling software; Employing 3D printing in the prototyping process; Rapid Prototyping Research Techniques.
Course learning outcomes
- Apply electronics and sensor concepts to developing computer device prototypes
- Design electronics schematics
- Employ rapid Printed Circuit Board production processes for concept realisation
- Apply 3D modelling skills to develop tangible device prototypes
- Employ rapid 3D printer design techniques to support IT device prototypes
- Perform literature review on rapid prototyping research papers
