Course overview

Students will develop the knowledge and skills required to understand, build, and maintain large language models (LLMs). They will develop the skills in data, information, and knowledge representation. Students will also be able to discuss, evaluate, compare and contrast relevant ethical theory in the training and use of LLMs.

Course learning outcomes

  • Describe commonly used approaches to large language models
  • Develop large language models for authentic problems
  • Design efficient representation models for knowledge associated with large language models
  • Describe ethical and cultural ethical concerns and impacts of the use of large language models
  • Evaluate the resource requirements of various large language models
  • Communicate effectively the project outcome, human factors, and future work
