Course overview

This course aims to increase students' advanced understanding of Industry 4.0, the fourth industrial revolution, that features disruptive and innovative digital technologies and how they are transforming organisations and society.

Course learning outcomes

  • Critically review the value and application of big data analytics and social media metrics in a variety of settings including investigative journalism and promotional industries.
  • Evaluate how ground breaking digital/enabling innovations and the Internet of Things (IoT) are transforming economies, such as platform, gig and gendered.
  • Examine the transformative nature of automation, robotics and artificial intelligence and their implications in workplaces locally and globally.
  • Analyse the value and impact of digital/enabling technologies and their implicit ethical considerations.
