Course overview
This course will develop students' spoken and written communication skills in English language at an intermediate level for academic and professional purposes. Students will develop an understanding of English as an academic language for undergraduate university study and its necessity for further study and employment in English-speaking countries. Students are encouraged to reflect on language learning processes while they focus on the further development of listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. Students will develop academic reading and writing skills, focussing on the types of texts found in educational and professional contexts. Included in the course is a focus on reflexive practice and strategies to expand the student's knowledge of vocabulary, structure (grammar) and confidence in producing written and multimodal texts in English.
