Course overview
This course will provide students with an advanced level of theoretical framework, analytical knowledge and practical application of risk management models, methods, tools and techniques within a project. Students will study a broad set of inter-related theoretical concepts and practical techniques and processes including: examination of alternative methodologies; Uncertainty management; Risk identification, analysis and evaluation; Risks at different phases of the project life cycle; Risk tools and techniques; Risk mitigation and treatment methods; Computer based risk management and compliance systems; Project risk knowledge management and lessons learnt.
Course learning outcomes
- Demonstrate an understanding of the nature of risk (threat and opportunity), and its impacts on the project environment.
- Reflect and critically assess the issues related to the practical application of risk management methods and standards.
- Competently apply the risk identification and risk assessment (qualitative and quantitative analysis) models, tools, and techniques.
- Establish and simulate a risk management plan and align it with project objectives and the business strategies.
