Course overview

In this course, students will apply a range of conceptual, analytical and research skills in the design and management of sustainable value-creating, consumer-driven businesses in a value chain. The following topics will be covered in this course: the value proposition; features of value chain management; collaboration and competitive management of operations and distribution; importance of sustainable operations.

Course learning outcomes

  • Examine the factors necessary for effective value chain management in today's global and highly competitive markets.
  • Apply specific strategies to maximise the chain's efficiency and competitive advantage.
  • Critically evaluate the trends in sustainable operations.
  • Examine and discuss the issues and challenges evident in today's sustainable value chain.
  • Demonstrate Business Enterprise Skills in the context of the Supply Chain Management discipline: i) Self-Management (advanced level); ii) Ethical Awareness (advanced level); and iii) International Perspective (advanced level).
