Course overview
This course will provide students with an advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of the economic, social and environmental factors that influence and constrain projects throughout a project life cycle. Students will study a broad set of inter-related theoretical concepts and practical processes across the project lifecycle including: Sustainability concepts; Cash flows; Investment decision rules; Complexities in financial analysis and managing uncertainties; Environmental policies and corporate practice; Accountability and resource saving; Climate change and disaster impact reduction; Environmental impacts and assessments; Social sustainability; and Social impacts, indicators and assessments.
Course learning outcomes
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of economic, social and environment contexts that influence and constrain typical projects.
- Appraise and illustrate the successful application of sustainability principles to various projects.
- Discriminate and utilise advanced skills in analysing Australian and international assessments and approaches with particular reference to trends in sustainability.
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of various sustainability metrics, assessments, indexes, indicators and parameters are involved for a comprehensive approach to project implementation.
