Course overview
The aim of this course is to enable students to understand the integral link between organisational change and organisational sustainability and equip students with a working knowledge of the organisational change literature and understanding of organisational politics and the processes involved in leading and managing change. Multiple perspectives, managerial images, and approaches in leading and managing organisational change; reasons for and diagnosis for what needs to change in the organisation; skills in leading and managing organisational change; planning for change; stakeholder analysis and response and resistance to change; strategies for communicating change; implementing change; consolidating change, contextualised in local and international cases.
Course learning outcomes
- Explain the pervasive nature of change; its significance on organisational sustainability, and how people and organisations respond differently to change.
- Discuss and evaluate the process and principles associated with the various approaches and models of managing organisational change.
- Critically analyse leadership issues in managing people and processes in organisational change.
- Initiate, plan, manage and evaluate implementation of change in organisations.
- Demonstrate Business Enterprise Skills: i) Problem Solving (intermediate level); and ii) Teamwork (intermediate level).
