Course overview
Using real-life family business cases, this course provides students with a foundational understanding of the relevant theories (systems theory, agency and stewardship theory, the resource-based view, and the socio-emotional wealth perspective), frameworks, and tools to analyse and recommend strategies to improve family dynamics, strategic and succession planning, entrepreneurial venturing, and the performance of family businesses. Family Business Management is an invaluable course for enhancing students' understanding of the characteristics, contributions, and complex issues unique to family businesses and developing their analytical and problem-solving skills to excel in leading and/or advising family businesses.
