Course overview

This course introduces principles and practices of entrepreneurial creativity and innovation to undergraduate students. This course is to help students understand and implement creative processes for solving problems and for the development of innovation activities in new and established organisations. Innovation, entrepreneurship and creativity; Creativity and the individual; Creativity in the organisational context; Barriers to creativity and innovation; Managing creativity and innovation in organisations;
Building the innovation capability of an organisation; Innovation and creativity to address societal issues.

Course learning outcomes

  • Examine and evaluate the models, processes and approaches involved in creativity and innovation for individuals and organisations.
  • Reflect on the different facets of creativity within the organisations.
  • Apply creativity tools to create solutions for broad based problems.
  • Design processes to encourage creativity that benefit organisation and society.
  • Demonstrate Business Enterprise Skills: i) Problem Solving (intermediate level); ii) Written Communication (intermediate level); and iii) Oral Communication (intermediate level).
