Course overview

This course aims to provide learners with a deep understanding of communication tools in construction, integrating manual drafting, Revit, and BIM alongside ISO 19650 and RIBA Plan of Work. Through immersive experiences with virtual reality, students develop effective verbal, written, and visual communication skills, fostering teamwork and autonomy. emphasising problem-solving, ethical conduct, and sustainable development, learners cultivate critical thinking, research skills, and environmental awareness crucial for professional practice. The course addresses problem-solving, understanding others' needs, ethical actions, and effective communication, while fostering skills in communication, critical thinking, and technological competence.

Course learning outcomes

  • Understanding the communication processes and core activities for traditional and digital construction projects based on the RIBA Plan of Work and the ISO 19650 standards to convey project information effectively across stakeholders with precision and alignment
  • Develop effective stakeholder engagement plans integrating verbal, written, and 2D drawings/3D visual communication skills for informed decision-making and progress monitoring throughout project lifecycles, ensuring comprehensive strategic alignment
