Course overview
This course aims to equip learners with skills to develop knowledge of creative research processes and practice: in environmental, cultural and ethical contexts. Learners identify a project related to their field of specialisation and develop proposals that consider the broad context of social impact the project addresses and the specific nature of the contribution the proposal makes to the specialist field. Students develop skills in creative strategies encompassing materials and composition, structure and technical requirements, critical analysis and presentation. This course aligns with the program's intent to provide specialist knowledge and skills applicable to professional practice in art and design fields.
Course learning outcomes
- Identify and articulate evolving project topics effectively, developing structured written proposal adjustments that outline project objectives, scope, methodology and evolution
- Identify primary source research and secondary research methods, critically evaluating information from various sources
- Develop creative ideas through sketches, models, diagrams, or schemes relevant to their specialisation, exploring varied approaches to conceptualising and visualising concepts
- Communicate ideas clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences utilising techniques for both oral and physical presentations
- Explore materials, processes, and techniques relevant to project concepts, and experiment with different media and methods to enhance creativity and innovation
- Present professional standard exhibition of art or design outcomes
