Course overview
To introduce and explore issues relevant to contemporary art and design culture within an international context. The course introduces students to the historical precedents, theory and cultural impact of art and design in the context of the social, environmental, and ethical considerations of creative practice. By examining visual artefacts and associated texts, students will develop analytical and critical appraisal skills essential for positioning art and design concepts in contemporary culture. This course aligns with the program intent to provide an advanced understanding of art and design theory, preparing learners to contextualise their practice.
