Course overview
Reflecting ethically, students recognise and analyse their future professional responsibilities and accountability in diverse collaborative roles.
Course learning outcomes
- Analyse commonly used and emerging materials, production processes, and technologies to determine their properties, selection criteria, and constraints, under real-world conditions, assessed through case studies of constraint-driven design solutions
- Apply principles of manufacturability to ensure design feasibility and efficiency while balancing design intent with production capabilities, evaluated through practical design assignments and prototypes
- Integrate advanced theoretical concepts into practical design, emphasising innovation, sustainability, and ethics, within a collaborative project environment, measured by the ability to produce a cohesive design proposal
- Employ advanced manufacturing technologies to enhance industrial design practices and solve complex design problems, in a simulated industry context, assessed by the quality and functionality of produced prototypes
- Create a comprehensive design project that synthesizes concepts from all modules, demonstrating proficiency in designing for manufacturability, and present the final design with a focus on professional practice and ethical considerations, evaluated through a final project presentation
