Course overview
Building on foundational skills in industrial design visualisation, this course deepens students' expertise in CAD tools and techniques for creating virtual models of highly resolved, 3-dimensional products for use in varying contexts. Students will engage in complex projects focused on development, evaluation, documentation, and visualisation. The course enhances proficiency in capturing aesthetic intent, creating visual representations, and effectively communicating detailed design concepts, preparing students to apply their skills in professional industrial design practice.
Course learning outcomes
- Create highly detailed 3D models using advanced CAD techniques to address complex design problems in a professional context, with performance assessed by the accuracy and complexity of the final models produced.
- Produce photorealistic renderings and animations of 3D models using advanced CGI techniques to enhance visual communication under real-world project conditions, evaluated by the quality and realism of visual presentations.
- Apply standards to develop clear and coherent documentation for industrial design professional practice, assessed by the completeness and clarity of documentation according to industry standards.
- Refine aesthetic intent and design detail through advanced surface modelling techniques to create complex, high-quality surfaces, evaluated with a focus on the quality and aesthetic appeal of the outcomes.
- Communicate complex design concepts effectively using visual communication methods and integrating immersive technologies in diverse technological contexts, assessed by the clarity, coherence, and innovation in presentations and use of these technologies
