Course overview
The aim of this course is to achieve the competencies required in order to be recommended for the Recreational Pilot Licence (RPL) flight test. Completing the CASA RPL flight test is optional for students. No syllabus hours are allocated for this and payment for the flight test is the responsibility of the student. Low speed aircraft handling; cross wind operations; advanced stalling; instrument flying; forced landing without power; maximum performance operations; navigation.
Course learning outcomes
- Complete a basic triangular navigation by applying knowledge of the entry and exit transit lanes to and from Parafield and training area boundaries.
- Operate an aircraft solo in a supervised environment.
- Consistently demonstrate good decision making, situational awareness, airmanship and threat and error management by recognising and avoiding potential conflict, deviation from normal operations. Respond correctly to simulated or real in -flight emergencies.
- Communicate and articulate clearly and concisely with air traffic control and other airspace users in order to minimise the potential for conflict.
- Perform pre and post flight actions without supervision. Operate the aircraft to the Recreational Pilot Licence standard as prescribed by Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) and to achieve the competencies required in order to be recommended for the Recreational Pilot flight test (with Nav endorsement if required by the student).
