Course overview

The aim of this course is to provide students with an introduction to the areas of aviation knowledge required for the commencement of flight training. Pre-flight and post-flight actions and procedures, standard radio and aircraft operating procedures, basic in-flight manoeuvers, basic aircraft performance, principles of flight, decision making, situational awareness, take-off circuit, and landing.

Course learning outcomes

  • Execute aircraft operation in a safe and legally compliant manner.
  • Demonstrate aeronautical knowledge sufficiently to meet the professional standard of solo aircraft operation.
  • Demonstrate good decision making, situational awareness, and airmanship by responding to simulated or real in-flight emergencies.
