Assessment applications

Assessment Applications are available to ensure students are supported to demonstrate their learning fairly, acknowledging that unforeseen, personal, cultural, or structural circumstances may affect participation in an assessment or exam.

At Adelaide University, there are two types of assessment applications:

  • Assessment Extension – Used for general coursework, assignments or tests (non-time-bound)

  • Deferred Assessment Application – Used for time-bound assessments that cannot be extended via MyLearning – this includes final centrally scheduled exams.

Important to note:

  • Any student who deliberately provides false or misleading information in their application will have their application denied and may be subject to investigation.

Application for Deferred Exam (time-bound)

If your ability to complete a time-bound assessment is/will be/has been significantly affected by medical, compassionate or extenuating circumstances, you may be eligible for a Deferred Assessment to help you fairly demonstrate your academic performance.

  • To request a Deferred assessment, complete the Application for Deferred Assessment Form. Please note that for centrally scheduled final exams, applications can only be submitted once the exam timetable has been made available in your MyAdelaide.

  • Before submitting an application, it’s your responsibility to read and understand the Variations to Assessment Policy, including eligibility and supporting documentation required.

  • Any student who deliberately provides false or misleading information in their application will have their application denied and may be subject to investigation.

Application for Assessment Extension (non-time-bound)

  • For assignments and coursework submitted via MyLearning, students can apply for a short extension (up to 3 days) without supporting documentation, or a long extension (3 to 14 days) by providing supporting documentation.

  • These applications can be made directly in your MyLearning Assessments page.

Last Course Supplementary Assessment

  • Students who receive a Fail grade between 40-49% in the final study period of their program will automatically be offered a Supplementary Assessment. This provides eligible students with a final opportunity to meet program requirements and graduate.
