You can get started by browsing potential research supervisors using the links below.

  • Academic transcripts

  • English language test results (if applicable).

If you have a preexisting relationship with a supervisor (for example, if they previously supervised your Honours or postgraduate research), you can contact them directly for written confirmation of support before you start your application.

Step of 3:

Finding a research project that drives your passion is a three-step process. First you will need to identify or propose a research project or area that interests you, then follow the process below to find a potential supervisor whose research interests are compatible with your proposed project. You will need to include the following information to successfully complete this process.

  1. The name of the degree you are interested in applying for (e.g. Doctor of Philosophy, Master of Philosophy, Master of Research). Visit the Research degree opportunities webpage for information regarding our research degrees.
  2. The names of up to three supervisors who could potentially supervise your research. Visit the Find a supervisor webpage to view the research interests of academic supervisors.
  3. A portfolio containing the following information:
    • A short statement or research proposal of no more than 200 words that indicates your research interests and/or proposed research project or research area. This is the first thing a potential supervisor will see, so make it concise, emphasise your research strengths and your research area of interest.
    • A Curriculum Vitae prepared on the University's Structured CV template, detailing any relevant qualifications, along with your work and research experience.
    • Academic transcripts for your undergraduate and postgraduate studies, showing the grades you received.
    • Evidence to demonstrate that you meet Adelaide University's English Language Proficiency requirements for your proposed area of research (e.g. a recent IELTS/ TOEFL/ PTE/ C1 Advanced certificate). If you have English test results pending, or have an English test booked, you may indicate this instead. Please visit the English language proficiency webpage for more information about English language requirements.
    • Your portfolio should be submitted in PDF format with all information combined into one document, and saved with the name format [Last name First name Portfolio_Date].
  4. If relevant, you can also provide the following:
  • Your Google Scholar ID and/or ORCID;
  • Any previous academic research dissertations;
  • Any other information or documentation that confirms your research experience.

Visit the Research degree opportunities webpage for additional information about the application process and closing dates for scholarship rounds.

Once you have collected the above information, please proceed to the form using the 'Continue' button below.
