Adelaide University offers a range of unique and versatile spaces for hire across our campuses. Whether you're planning a conference, workshop, networking event, or celebration, our venues combine heritage charm with modern facilities to suit every occasion.

Our spaces are available to:

  • Students and student groups
  • University staff
  • External organisations

Many function spaces can be booked by staff and students for university events at no cost. Explore our locations and find the perfect venue for your next event.

Each location offers a mix of indoor and outdoor spaces, from lecture theatres and meeting rooms to courtyards and function halls.

Adelaide University’s sporting grounds and affiliated facilities are also available for hire. Please visit the Adelaide University Sport page for locations and to make a booking. 

How to book

To hire a venue, please complete the External Event Hire Request form. If your event includes alcohol, you must also submit an Application to Serve Alcohol form at least two weeks before your event.

Staff and students can book a variety of individual teaching spaces, high profile meeting rooms and function rooms via the staff and student portals.

Catering and alcohol service

Catering is available at all campus locations. You can choose from a range of approved providers who offer tailored menus for events of all sizes. Learn more about catering options at:

Some Adelaide University campuses have outdoor kitchen or barbecue facilities for self-catering. All users must comply with relevant legislation including:

Please ensure that all outdoor cooking facilities are used within the guidelines provided at the time of booking, including safety requirements and returning the area to a clean and tidy condition after use.

Service of alcohol at events on University property is subject to strict rules and conditions. Please review the terms on the Alcohol at Campus Events page, where you will be guided to the relevant forms required. 

BYO alcohol is not permitted.

Security

Security guards are required for events serving alcohol with 30 or more guests. One additional guard is required for every 100 attendees. 

For events catered by Taikunthi, the National Wine Centre or the UniBar, security costs will be incorporated into the catering quote. For any other security guard hire requirements, you will need to request a quote via the Security Guard Hire form.

Audio visual equipment

Most Adelaide University’s common teaching spaces are equipped with standard AV facilities including projectors or screens, built-in computers, microphones and speakers.  

For issues with standard AV equipment, the University’s Information Technology and Digital Services (IT) team are available during business hours via telephone to assist with support. On-site assistance will only be available in the case of broken equipment. 

Should your event require more complex AV equipment, you are welcome to contact your own choice of third-party provider who will quote and charge for their services separately. 

Displaying banners or signage

Approval is required before displaying any temporary banners or event signage on Adelaide University grounds. If you wish to display signage or banners as part of your event, please email the details to the Facilities Bookings team including: 

  • Size of the banner

  • Details on how the banner will be secured or installed 

  • Dates for display

  • Details around any Workplace Health and Safety issues and how they will be addressed 

The Facilities Bookings team can provide you with a quote for installation at the approved location if required. 

Please be aware that the design and layout of your banner may also require approval by the Adelaide University marketing team. 

Furniture hire

Furniture is not available for hire from the University. 

If the existing furniture doesn’t suit your event, you may hire from external providers such as:

  • Atlas Party Hire

You are responsible for delivery, setup, and collection post-event. If existing furniture in the venue requires removal this can be arranged. 

Event parking

Parking at all Adelaide University campuses is limited, and specific event parking cannot be guaranteed. In some cases, parking permits may be provided to event organisers.
