The Sir Hugh Cairns Memorial Scholarship was established in 1953 by a donation to the University of Adelaide by the Committee of the Sir Hugh Cairns Memorial Association for the purpose of founding a prize to perpetuate the memory of Sir Hugh Cairns, a former student of the Adelaide High School. The Endowment supports a scholarship for a student from Adelaide High School who is commencing the Medical program.

Eligibility
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:
- Have completed Year 12 at Adelaide High School
- Be commencing the Bachelor of Medical Studies
- Be an Australian Citizen, permanent resident of Australia or holder of a permanent humanitarian visa
- Be enrolled on a full time basis in a Commonwealth Supported Place
Selection criteria
Selection of the successful candidate will be made according to:
- Academic merit (ATAR)
Important information
- There is no application process for this scholarship, it will be directly awarded to a commencing student
- You must meet all of the above listed criteria to be eligible
- The Scholarship must be taken up in the year in which it is offered
