In 1957, Adolf John Schulz bequeathed to the University of Adelaide £4,500 for the purpose of promoting postgraduate research work in the theory of education and the study of the German language, literature and culture generally.
The Schulz Scholarship in German is to assist students of German undertaking a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Languages to take the course German in Germany or to participate in a recognised German-Australian semester exchange program.

Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, applicants must:
- Be Australian citizens, Australian Permanent residents, New Zealand citizens,
- Be undertaking a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Languages with a major in German
- Have completed at least 6 units of German
- Be undertaking the course German in Germany or a recognised German-Australian semester exchange program
Selection criteria
Selection of the successful candidate will be made according to:
- Academic merit (GPA)
- Answers to questions on the application form
Important information
- You must meet all of the above listed criteria to be eligible to apply
- The Scholarship must be taken up in the year in which it is offered
- Students receiving other Adelaide University Scholarships may apply for this Scholarship
- The successful applicant will be expected to submit a written report to the committee on activities undertaken with scholarship support and to participate in public events to promote German.
