The Scholz Vinall Aboriginal Architecture Scholarship will be awarded to a commencing or continuing Aboriginal student studying the Bachelor of Architectural Design (BARCH)‚ Master of Architecture (MAARC) or the Bachelor of Interior Architecture(Honours) (HINAR) at Adelaide University.
The scholarship offers encouragement and support for commencing and continuing students with a passion for architecture.
Recipients will receive a scholarship valued at up to $15,000.
Continuing students who receive the scholarship will not receive retrospective payment for years already completed.
The scholarship is designed to help recipients meet the costs associated with study and pursuing their architecture specialisation including, but not limited, to textbooks‘ supplies‘ computing equipment or other out-of-pocket expenses.
All Aboriginal architecture and interior architecture students will be encouraged to apply irrespective of their financial position. The scholarship is not means-tested nor awarded on the basis of financial need. Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend an interview.
Value:
Recipients will receive a scholarship valued at up to $15‚000‚ payable as $5‚000 per year:
• Bachelor of Architectural Design (BARCH) recipients will receive a maximum of $15‚000
• Master of Architecture (MAARC) recipients will receive a maximum of $10‚000
• Bachelor of Interior Architecture(Honours) (HINAR) recipients will receive a maximum $15‚000
Scholarship recipients will receive the following payment:
• $5‚000 after the Semester 1 census date
Pro-rata payments will apply for part-time enrolment.

⦁ Identify as Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and be accepted as an Aboriginal person in the community the student belongs to‚ lives in‚ or has lived in.
⦁ Be a commencing or continuing student studying the Bachelor of Architectural Design (BARCH)‚ Master of Architecture (MAARC) or Bachelor of Interior Architecture(Honours) (HINAR).
⦁ Have full-time (preferred) or part-time enrolment.
⦁ Provide a written statement clearly addressing the points listed below.
⦁ Attend a selection panel interview.
Applicants are required to provide a written statement (maximum 750 words) detailing:
⦁ Reasons for studying architecture / interior architecture.
⦁ A brief personal statement providing some background and how they connect to family‚ culture‚ community and country.
⦁ Future career goals within the architecture / interior architecture industry and how the scholarship would help achieve these goals.
⦁ Academic achievements.
⦁ Community involvement and/or extracurricular activities/interests.
The scholarship will be awarded based on the written statement outlining why the applicant would be a worthy scholarship recipient and interview performance. Individual circumstances‚ as outlined in the written statement and at interview‚ will be considered when determining the successful applicant.
Recipients may be in receipt of other scholarships or grants administered by Adelaide University.
Previous recipients of the Scholarship may apply.
Ongoing payments are subject to enrolment checks and maintaining a GPA of 4 or above.
