Raymond McMillan received a scholarship to attend the University of Adelaide on a scholarship and graduated with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering in 1949. McMillan Constructions Pty Ltd, the company Raymond founded, would like to honour Raymond’s memory and provide a similar opportunity for a South Australian to attend University, supporting and retaining top talent in the State.

Value: $15,000 per year to be paid in two instalments, plus an additional one-off payment of $5,000
Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for this scholarship you must:
- Be commencing a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil)(Honours)program of study including associated double or combined programs
- Be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident of Australia, or holder of a permanent humanitarian visa Be enrolled on a full time basis in a Commonwealth Supported Place Demonstrate you are in financial need*
* Applicants must demonstrate financial need and provide supporting documentary evidence at the time of application, e.g. details of income tested Commonwealth income support payment, such as Youth Allowance, Austudy, ABSTUDY benefits, or other details of their financial circumstances.
* Evidence of Tertiary Access Payment (TAP) application or approval does not demonstrate financial need.
Selection criteria
Selection of the successful candidate will be made according to:
- Financial need Answers to questions on the application form
- Preference will be given to students who have completed their high school education in South Australia, or have lived in South Australia for a minimum of three years prior to scholarship application
Important information
- You must meet all of the above listed criteria to be eligible to apply
- The Scholarship must be taken up in the year in which it is offered
- Students receiving other University of Adelaide Scholarships may not apply for this Scholarship
- An additional one-off payment of $5,000 will be made in the first semester of study to assist the recipient with initial study set up costs
